March 19, 2002 Part the first: All right, I admit it, you were right. I was out of my freakin' mind to think I could do it without repercussions. (You all know who you are). Dammit. Part the second: Ellipsis is sadly over. We had a bunch of shows but there was still something fun and new to try in each of them. It never got boring. And Friday was the last night. We had 45 people and they were a really nice audience. They laughed in the right spots and got all the jokes and drama. There is an article in this last weeks City Paper about the show and about Kelley. But it's done. Most of the folks are also in my (and Jaki's) production of Romeo and Juliet so I will see them there but Kim, who was a sweetheart as Estelle will be missed. I promised that I'd hunt her down if she disappeared. "Forever" no more. In other news my good friend Joe was in town this past weekend. I haven't seen him in something like three years since he moved out to Los Angeles and it was real nice to catch up. I think I am really lucky to be surrounded by such nice people. Years go by and yet the friendship and love still remains strong. But he was in town on a mini getaway vacation and to see his god-daughter. We went to dinner with friends and then out drinking and just having a blast. Hopefully soon I can get out there and see him and reconnect with my California roots. March 13, 2002 You think I'd learn to wait until I am in a better mood to write a journal entry, but alas here I go again. Tonight begins the last of the three days of Ellipsis and then we are all done for now. I am sorry to see it all end. It has been a lot of fun and I have met loads or really nice people and had audiences outside of the Rude Mechanicals. Plus the past few nights we have been hanging around the Greenbelt Arts Center (GAC) hanging lights and doing all that stuff and it brought back all the memories of theatre days past. So Friday is the end of it then I can concentrate all my attention on the psycho drama hell that Romeo and Juliet has become. Now to be fair the Romeo and Juliet thing is actually going quite well. We are getting some great performances out of people and I think we are helping people achieve things that they may not have been able to get to on their own. I just wish that some people would be more honest about things and tell people all that they think. I wish I could at times as there are a few people that are making me so annoyed I could scream every night and pound my head into the wall. It's just funny that people can look in the mirror and see flaws in everyone else and not see the ones in themselves. Enough of that. The past Saturday some friends and I went to see this production of Faust at the this small theatre in DC. It was the first time that I had seen real theatre since I was in New York over New Years and my friends and I saw The Full Monty. The play was fantastic! I had never seen the Goethe Faust before and they way that this theatre did it was truly amazing. Their website is www.sts-online.com and if you are in the area, I highly recommend checking them out. Their next show is Hamlet, one of my favorites. But before the show my friends and I were outside talking and we saw this really cute guy walk up and go in. Very cute. Then during intermission, while we were outside talking and getting some cool air, we see him standing near up kind of listening to our conversation. So we invite him in and we all talk about the show, sword fighting and acting in general. He was a very bright guy with a really cool name: Lucian. So of course my friend and I find this guy very attractive and obviously wonder if he plays on our team or not. So after the show we look for him again and start talking about the amazing show. It's obvious that this guy is very intelligent but the amount of knowledge he has on many of the subject we were talking about. So we find out that he goes to a small college in Buffalo, New York and that he was only in town for the weekend. But one of his interests in medieval literature and that really got me going so I didn't want to night to end cause a) he was very cute and b) he was talking about some great literature that I love. So we dropped our one friend off at the Metro and she headed home while we three decided to get coffee. Again more conversations, more talk of books and theatre and it was just the nicest night. So we exchanged emails an I hope that we can get together again when he comes back down in April. I still don't know he if plays on my team but I want to know. Not that I think I have a chance of course. In news on the birthday front, it's only a few days before before I get a chance to see my IDOL in action. I can't think if I mentioned this before but I have tickets to see Robin Williams in concert. I am so excited I could die. He has been my idol for years and whenever someone says that I remind them of him it makes my day. Then my best friend DJ called and said that he has my present and its (drum roll please) flying to Las Vegas, staying in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and second row for ... Britney Spears! I am so excited. He told me on the phone and I screamed. It was silly. So that will be in May on Memorial day. heheh I can't wait! All right that is all for now. More later. March 4, 2002 Well, the run of Ellipsis up in Baltimore is done. All in all it was a great run in a great space. We had good nights in each performance getting more people than I thought we would. It's always hard to judge what the audience is going to be like when you are in a first run piece but no show was disappointing and some of the audience was from people who had seen the ads and came based on that which was nice cause, although it's nice to get all your friends in there it's also nice to get brand new people. (What a fucked up sentence. Bet you can't tell I was an English Major) And barring the old folks we got on that fateful Sunday, everyone we talked to seemed to realy enjoy the show. But it's going be very nice to not have to travel from Chantilly VA to Baltimore. What that equates to is an hour and a half on a very good day in traffic to three hours on a really bad day. Next up for Ellipsis are the final three shows at the Greenbelt Arts Center. And that will be it, or will it? Stay tuned. Romeo and Juliet is going well also. I'm just giddy when I think about this show. Right now we are still doing various scenes and I can't wait until we can do a full run through with the thing. Grrr. I love theatre. Sigh. What else...I think I have become addicted to coffee. People who know me will think this comes as no surprise but I've gotten to the point where I am adjusting my driving schedule based on where the nearest Dunkin Donuts is. It's odd really. And that's the other strange thing, Starbucks, though close to my heart, has been replaced, at the moment, for Dunkin Donuts coffee or even McDonald's coffee. What is wrong with me!? It's all very strange. My love life is looking like the beach at Normady. Just a whole bunch of dead hopes. I have given up trying at this point. At least it feels like I have. I'm sure something will come along eventually but who knows. I have some of the most wonderful friends that supplement my need for companionship. Hell I was even thinking of getting a cat when I get my own place. If I get my own place. So, on that dower note I will say adieu. Adieu. Adieu. March 1, 2002 Well, so now it's the first day of March. Sigh. It seems like the day is going so fast. But at least there is plenty of stuff going on to keep busy. We have another weekend of performances for Ellipsis and I am looking forward to that. I was great to be onstage and have all those eyes on me. During the last show I could see the audience and could feel all their eyes on me during all my monologues. It was fantastic. The time leading up to the time is annoying but then you get out there and it's awesome. And through all this I have been getting compliments about my acting which is making me feel good. And the compliments are from people other than those close to me. Which seems to validate it all. I appreciate everyone's opinion but my friend Dave came opening weekend at Glen Burnie and he was surprised with how well I did. That made me feel good. Elise and Jay from Romeo and Juliet also said the same thing and it just makes me think I have validation to continue this trip. Hehe. What else. Romeo and Juliet is going really fucking well. I am seeing more and more what a great show this is going to me. I am so proud of all the work that everyone has put into it. I'm so happy. All day I look forward to getting out if the office and heading out to rehearsal. Now if I just didn't have to work... All right, I think that's about it. There is no social life to talk of. No sex life to mention. Goddammit. Although I saw the hottest guy the other night. My roommate apparently quit his job and I got home from rehearsal and like 6 people were drinking in the house so of course I had to drink as well and after like an hour they all went and headed home. There was this one guy Dave who was so cute. He was a red head which I usually don't like but this guy looked just like Seth Green. He voice was great, his eyes and smile were to die for but of course he was straight. I tend to find all the qualities I want in a man but that man turns out to be straight. Again, goddammit. |
